Parliament gates shut, police fire tear gas at CJP protestors

Chaotic scenes unfolded across central Delhi on Monday as security forces fired tear gas shells, used lathi charges, and deployed anti-riot vehicles to disperse Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protesters. The violence erupted when thousands of demonstrators participating in the "Chalo Sansad" march attempted to breach multiple security barricades to enter the high-security zone. The clashes occurred at multiple critical locations, including Jantar Mantar, Rail Bhawan, Shastri Bhawan, and parts of Janpath. As a direct precautionary measure to prevent any breach of the building, authorities completely shut down the gates of Parliament, including the vehicle entry at the South Gate.

The confrontation intensified near Rail Bhawan where large crowds of agitators engaged in physical scuffles with the law enforcement personnel, resulting in minor injuries to several protesters and police officers. Security personnel repeatedly appealed to the demonstrators to disperse peacefully before deploying tear gas shells to push back sections of the crowd trying to force their way through. Anti-riot vehicles were stationed at key junctions to contain the march, causing massive traffic snarls across central Delhi. Commuters faced severe transit disruptions as the entry and exit gates of five nearby Delhi Metro stations were temporarily closed, prompting protesters to raise slogans inside and outside transit points like Mandi House.

A heavy deployment of Delhi Police and paramilitary personnel remains stationed around the administrative buildings and adjoining roads to maintain order. Protesters at the site alleged that the government deployed signal jammers, which actively disrupted mobile internet and connectivity in the area, though official confirmation remains unavailable. Meanwhile, the CJP leadership publicly claimed that the central government has agreed to hold formal talks with the demonstrators to address their grievances. However, no official statement has been released by the government confirming any such diplomatic engagement or scheduled dialogue.
